My dogs.

This is my beautiful smooth hair Hungarian Vizsla.  Her name is Ella.  She was found to have HD and she had to be spay.

This is Vicki a wire haired Hungarian Vizsla, she was imported from Hungary a couple of years ago.  She is owned by my very dear friend Ronalie Frew, and after her next litter of puppies next year, Ronalie is going to give her to me.  She had a beautiful litter of 7 puppies in May this year and although I missed the actual birth I arrived when they were two days old.  Vicki is a trained hunter and catches rabbits on our property with much skill.

How to train your dog to go to the toilet on demand

I found this video to be one of the very best to train your dog to go to the toilet on demand.  There are so many videos on training your dog, and countless books, and quite frankly Ceaser Milan is one of my very favourite people and I love  his show on TV.  Sometimes there is just too much information to take in at any one time and that is why this video is good just three things:- leash, command, reward.  Enjoy

Rain, Rain and more Rain.

It is so wet in North East Victoria, I feel that I should have webbed feet to get around.  It does not feel like an Australian Christmas, indeed I feel like I am in the Northern Hemisphere, as I have a raging fire burning today as the temperature dived from 35  last week to 8 degrees as I am writing this morning.  Needless to say all outdoor work has been put on hold and I am busy making more Kangaroo leather 4 plait dog leads, which normally only get made after dark and I cannot work outside.

First Day as a blogger.

This is all very new to me but feel this is the way to go in this electronic age.  Long gone are the days you would wait for the post man  to arrive to see if your "Pen Pal" had answered your letter (written 3 months ago).

I am a fairly new  to the Hungarian Vizsla dog  world, but after having one you just would not have any other dog.  I have Ella and Vicki.  Ella is a smooth and Vicki an wire haired.  Ella is in your face and like someone else said last week "She makes the duracell Bunny look like a sloth".

Vicki, on the other hand is more quiet and subdued and she makes you feel that you need to pat and pamper her.  That is when we are inside.  Outside, she is just the opposite she is the stealth hunter and so quick I think she surprises herself.  Always comes home with a rabbit or what-ever they are chasing at the time. Ella will get distracted and follow  a lizard or chase a butterfly.  Both my girls are adoreable.

We live on an eight acre property just outside Benalla Victoria. We have a small dam near the Vege garden and every day Vicki spends at least one hour just swimming.  Ella will go in after a ball but Vicki just loves to swim.
